Smart luggage electronics
Connected luggage electronics bringing access control, weight monitoring, and mobile interaction together.

The project
Give travelers a convenient way to interact with luggage security and weight information.
Product highlights
- Fingerprint-based locking and embedded weight monitoring.
- Bluetooth interaction and device notifications.
- Electronics integration for a connected luggage product.
Connected application
The companion app supports Bluetooth-based interaction with the luggage lock and device notifications.
How we approached it
For a battery-powered Bluetooth product like the Smart luggage electronics, the power budget shapes every decision. We plan how often the radio wakes, which sensors sample and how fast, and which sleep states the Bluetooth hardware can use between events.
The Bluetooth interface is designed together with the companion app: which data is streamed, which is read on demand, and how settings and alerts flow back to the device. Over-the-air updates are planned from the first build so field units can be fixed without a cable. See our nRF52 vs ESP32 guide for the platform trade-offs.
